Pelvic pain

Pelvic complaints are more common than you might think and can present in various ways. Some people experience a dull ache in the lower back or around the sacrum, while others feel an unstable, pulling, or stiff sensation in the pelvic or hip region. The discomfort can radiate to the groin, buttocks, or upper legs, and often worsens with prolonged standing, walking, bending, or twisting. These symptoms may linger subtly in the background or appear suddenly after a wrong movement or a period of overuse.

What many people don’t realize is that the pelvis plays a crucial role as a link between the upper and lower parts of the body. It is connected to the lower back, abdomen, legs—and even the spine and shoulders—through joints, muscles, connective tissue, and internal organs. An imbalance or restriction in the pelvic area can therefore affect other areas of the body, and vice versa. Pelvic issues are often accompanied by lower back pain, hip problems, tailbone pain, abdominal discomfort, or pelvic floor tension.

Do these symptoms sound familiar? Then it’s worthwhile to look beyond the site of the pain itself. The pelvis responds strongly to posture, tension, and load throughout the body. By identifying the source of movement restrictions or tension, treatment can be tailored to help restore balance in the pelvis and improve the overall function of the body.

Pelvic Pain Treatment

Treatment begins with an assessment of the mobility of the pelvis and surrounding structures, such as the lower back, hips, abdomen, and legs. Restrictions or tension in these areas can disrupt the balance of the pelvis. Using manual techniques, mobilizations, and muscle relaxation, we work to restore mobility and reduce strain.

In some cases, internal pelvic organs—such as the bladder, uterus, or intestines—may also influence symptoms. Tension or reduced mobility of these organs, for example due to scar tissue from surgery or childbirth, is taken into account during treatment if it appears to affect pelvic movement.

The goal is to restore smooth and stable function to the pelvic region, so you can move more freely and experience less discomfort during everyday activities.
