Gut health problems

Digestive complaints are very common and can subtly impact your daily functioning. Many people experience bloating, gas, abdominal pain or cramps without knowing exactly what's causing it. Other frequently reported symptoms include constipation or loose stools, irregular bowel movements, the urge to go without results, or a persistent aching feeling in the lower abdomen. These complaints often appear after eating, during stress, or at specific times of the day.

What’s less widely known is that digestive issues can also be linked to fatigue, a heavy or foggy feeling in the head, trouble concentrating, or mood swings. The intestines are connected to other organs and parts of the body via nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue, which means that abdominal complaints can affect your overall wellbeing.

Do you recognize these symptoms? Then it's important to know that there is often an underlying cause — and that treatment can help calm your gut and bring your body back into balance.

Treatment of Digestive Complaints

When treating digestive complaints, we look beyond the abdomen itself. The intestines are closely connected to other parts of the body via nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. For example, there’s an important connection through the spine and the vagus nerve — a nerve that runs from the brain and plays a key role in regulating digestion. If the mobility of the vertebrae is restricted, it can affect nerve conduction and, in turn, the function of the digestive system.

In addition, adhesions or tension in the connective tissue around the abdomen — for example, after surgery, inflammation, or prolonged strain — can reduce blood flow, restrict the mobility of the organs, and disrupt metabolism. This may lead to bloating, cramping, or irregular bowel movements.

During treatment, gentle techniques are used to restore the mobility of the abdominal organs, release any adhesions, and improve tension in the surrounding structures. The spine is also assessed and treated where necessary to support nerve signaling and coordination between the organs.

The goal is to calm the digestive system, stimulate metabolism, and help the body function more efficiently as a whole.
