Spinal Complaints

Spinal complaints are very common and can present in many different ways. Some people experience a dull or sharp pain in the lower back, between the shoulder blades, or in the neck. Others notice more of a feeling of stiffness, limited mobility, or instability. These symptoms can develop gradually due to prolonged strain or poor posture, but may also appear suddenly after an awkward movement or a period of stress.
What many people don’t realize is that spinal complaints often don’t occur in isolation. The spine is a central structure, connected to the entire body through muscles, fascia, nerves, and even internal organs. Restrictions in spinal mobility can therefore cause radiating symptoms into the arms or legs, headaches, breathing difficulties, or a general sense of reduced vitality. Stress, fatigue, and shallow breathing can further increase the load on the spine.
Do you recognize these symptoms? Then it’s important to look beyond just the site of the pain. Back and neck issues often arise when multiple systems in the body fall out of balance. By examining where tension or restriction originates, treatment can help restore freedom of movement in the spine and improve the functioning of the body as a whole.
Treatment for Spinal Complaints
For spinal complaints, we always begin with a thorough intake and physical examination. We don’t just focus on the area where you feel pain — we also assess the mobility of the entire spine and the structures connected to it, such as the pelvis, ribs, organs, shoulders, and head.
Depending on what’s needed, we use manual techniques to release movement restrictions, restore mobility, and reduce muscle tension. This may include mobilisations, manipulations, and muscle relaxation techniques. We also pay attention to posture, breathing, and movement patterns that may be contributing to the complaint.
Sometimes, the root cause is not located solely in the back or neck but is related to a broader imbalance in the body. By approaching the body as a whole, we can often work more deeply and effectively toward recovery. The goal is not only to relieve pain but also to prevent recurring complaints.
